The ultimate packing checklist for your baby holiday

Planning a holiday with your baby? Then you’ll want to make sure you don’t forget anything important. Being well prepared helps prevent stress and gives you the freedom to fully enjoy your time together. Whether it’s your very first baby holiday or you’ve travelled with your little one before, this checklist helps you pack smart and stress-free.

What you pack depends on your destination

Before you start packing, take a moment to consider where you're going. A city break, a week by the coast or a stay in the mountains each come with their own needs. Think about the following:

  • The weather: heading somewhere warm? Pack lightweight clothes, a sun hat and baby-safe sunscreen. Going to a cooler region? Bring extra layers and a warm jumper.

  • How you travel: if you're going by car, you'll have more room than if you're flying. For flights, it’s useful to make a separate hand luggage list with essentials for the journey.

  • Your accommodation: check in advance whether your hotel or holiday rental offers a travel cot, microwave or kettle for preparing bottles. If you’re camping, you'll need to pack a few extra items.

  • Trip length: a weekend away requires a more compact list than a longer break. If you’re away for a week or more, pack a bit more generously.

Smart packing tips for parents

  1. Make a checklist in advance and tick items off as you go
  2. Pack a separate bag for travel days with nappies, wipes, food, dummy and toys
  3. Avoid overpacking, because many basics can be bought locally
  4. Use packing cubes or small bags to stay organised
  5. Leave some room for baby items or souvenirs you pick up on the trip
